You know, what’s good about self-portraits? You’re reminded of an old person you met sometime in the distant past. This is what I have in mind at 1am while listening to old Lianne La Havas and Basha Bulat Blogotheque Take Away Shows.
There are certain pages in our life stories that we might miss in certain days in the future. Not necessarily because we miss the good ol’ life but because they had what we don’t have in the present – time, peace and direction.
The above photo was taken during what I believe was my most creative era. It was taken when I was most eager to learn, when I had all the time for myself. I learned knitting, took hundreds of photographs, and travelled here and there. But, do I love my present self any less? No. I guess it just really takes quite some time to navigate through motherhood, in finding the best version of the self in it. Oh the things we have in my mind at 1 am!
Through time passed, through passions forgotten, I am still choosing the “more” woman I have become.
So, to you who is just about to graduate from the uni, to you who just left a job for another, to you who just discovered a new hobby, to you who just learned that you will be a mom soon, and the list goes on, you have today to take photographs of yourself. This present page of your life story could be special. It could be the dark before a tunnel’s end. It could be the start of a rainbow. Our present is quick passing.
